Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose AMEA over another Mandarin class?
My children are native Mandarin speakers already, why should we come to AMEA?
We are a school to teach children to use Mandarin as a tool to learn other supplementary skills like in the school in China. We speak Mandarin but we also need to learn many other skills in Mandarin.
At what age should my child start to learn Mandarin?
An infant’s brain has as a gift that can recognise 800 sounds from any language from birth. Mandarin is a tone language. Let the children start to learn Mandarin early to avoid the loss of the ability to recognise the sounds.
If the teacher only speaks Mandarin in class, how will my child understand the teacher?
Communication is the act of conveying meaning from one entity or group to another through the use of mutually understood signs, symbols, and semiotic rules.
Learning the skill and learning for thinking
We encourage your children to get used to use Mandarin, using the Mandarin language to learn:
- drawing and arts
- dancing and Music

- All the courses are taught in Mandarin so your children can immerse themselves into the language and learn a skill from a professional teacher at the same time.

My children are native Mandarin speakers already, why should we come to AMEA?
We are NOT an education facility that only teaches Mandarin to children. We will NOT ask children all sit in front of the desk and repeat or memorise long lists of words, character after character so they might resent Mandarin and forget it later. Or worse they start to hate Mandarin and ask you to stop forcing them to learn.

- Communication is not just verbal, it is a combination of facial expression, emotion and gesture. Learning an additional language from an early age gives your children an opportunity to understand different cultures and know how to communicate with people in a better way. Learning a second language can also help your child develop a Higher EQ which can be a key indicator of success later in life.
- The constant need to shift attention between languages leads to several cognitive advantages. Research has found that bilingual adults and children show an improved executive functioning of the brain – that is, they are able to shift attention, switch between tasks and solve problems more easily.
- Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world. Your child will be able to talk to 20% of the world’s population.

Communication is the act of conveying meaning from one entity or group to another through the use of mutually understood signs, symbols, and semiotic rules.
Apart from the sound language, the teacher will also use common gestures, facial expressions to help the kids learn.
Also, children are excellent at learning from their peers; kids can always observe the class first and then participate in any games. All these observations, hesitations and guesses are all great resources for helping children developing language skills and more.
